Welcome to our Producer Member Charlie Sutcliffe Breeder of Tetford Longhorns

A big hearty Happerley welcome to our recently joined producer member Charlie Sutcliffe breeder of Tetford Longhorns.

Charlie and Debbie Sutcliffe currently have around 85 cattle and the Tetford herd is well known for its many successes in the show ring with a number of breed championships to its credit. They have bred two royal show male champions, Tetford Clansman in 1999 and Tetford Kingpin in 2005. All of the current breeding females are home bred, being daughters of either the original stock bull Fishwick Olympic or by their homebred sires Bilbo, Clansman, Indiana, Jedi and Kingpin or more recently Southfield Hero and Linton David.

The Longhorn is Britain's oldest beef breed, a breed almost lost had it not been for the efforts of a small band of dedicated breeders determined to save it from extinction at a time when mainstream farming was intent on producing more for less in the quickest possible time.

Whilst not registered organic, all Charlie’s animals are totally naturally reared producing safe, healthy meats from native British breeds with a quality and flavour rarely seen these days. The cattle are all single suckled on their mothers and reared out at grass in the traditional way.

All the beef and lamb produced on the farm at Tetford is sold exclusively by Meridian Meats. Click here to visit their website and find out about the different ways to buy their award winning longhorn beef. You can read more about Charlie and his herd here
