OUR BRAND VALUES*

Our honey infusions is only made with natural raw honey from our hives here in the Cherwell Valley, we take pride in creating one-of-a-kind honey infusions. We craft raw honey infused by combining organic natural fruit and spices all made in small batches, so each batch is unique and contains no additives or preservatives. Our pure raw honey has not been heated preserving all the naturally occurring vitamins, enzymes and nutritional elements within the honey. Bringing the Sweetness from hive to plate.

OUR COMMITMENTS*

Sustainability

We protect and maintain our viable bee populations, keeping them healthy and not overworking the colonies by mirroring the natural life cycle of the bee and treating the hive as a complete organism, their natural processes are respected and the removal of honey and intrusion of our colonies is kept to a minimum.

Environment

Flowers, crops and our honeybees are co dependant, the health of our bees depends on a local flower rich environment when placing our bees into out apiary's we ensure that their is a sustainable forage, we tend to use 4 m wide field margins rich in wild flowers available all year round.

Local Communities

We interact with our local community through talks with local groups, a news letter sent out to our customers and regular up dates on what we are doing, what's new, but most importantly the importance of pollinators raising awareness of the need to protect habitats and our ecosystems.

Packaging & Waste

Our packaging is glass with a metal lid widely recyclable, we also decided this year to use paper labels rather than plastic types, this enabled us to print our own labels, lowering cost, but also reducing our carbon footprint. Up until Covid 19 we did used to take our jars back, part of a loyalty scheme. Waste from our hives and colonies is minimal, our wax is reused in wax foundation and our wet honey frames are put back on to our hives for the bees to clean off before removing for the second time and stored and treated against wax moth ready for use in the next season.

Inspiring & Educating

In the distance past we did used to do talks to groups such as the WI, Alzheimer's society, we intended this year to go into Schools with an observation hive to give talks to the younger generations to plant the seed for the importance of not just honeybees, but other pollinators and their importance in food production.

Energy Reduction

This year we have kept all our out apiary's local, this cut our fuel bill considerably. we have over the last few years only extracted our honey twice a year leaving late summer honey on for overwintering bees, this reduced our winter feed (fondant). Bee keeping is low impact the majority of the work is by hand and apart from an electrical extractor and honey warmers uses very little energy.

Nutritional Values

Raw honey is an antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal substance. It is also highly nutritious. It contains significant amounts of B2, B3, B5, B6, C, magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium chlorine, sulphur, and phosphate.

Animal Welfare

Our aim is to produce and manage our honey bees, insuring a high standard of health and welfare of our bee's. As well as our very own health checks all our Bees and hives are inspected every year by Defra APHA National Bee unit, this helps to keep our colonies healthy and productive, but also keeps us informed with honey bee related legislation, pests and diseases information which includes their recognition and control, publications and advisory leaflets.
