British Alpine Breed Society

ABOUT US

The British Alpine Breed Society aims to encourage the keeping, breeding and improving of the British Alpine Dairy Goat

The Society was formed in 1979 by over 60 breeders of British Alpine goats

  • In order to achieve its aim the Society provides its members with four newsletters per year . These include articles, photographs and pedigrees of the outstanding goats of the year, details of milk recorded B.A.'s, lists of show awards and winners of British Alpine Breed Rosettes together with up to date information on British Alpine Sires of Merit. News and comments from members in the UK and further a field is included.

  • A comprehensive annual Stud list is produced detailing pedigrees of BA males at stud, together with information on the performance of their progeny.

  • The Annual Breed Show is held at Newark Showground where some of the best examples of the breed can be seen.

  • Regional get-togethers and social events are held throughout the country in an effort to bring together anyone interested in the British Alpine Dairy Goat.

  • Periodically a Handbook is published.

  • The Society has its own website www.britishalpines.co.uk . This  provides details about the breed, its origins and current information about shows and meetings. It contains a gallery of  BA images, which is on-going in its development.
