Lincoln Longwool Sheep Breeders Association

ABOUT US

Our modern day Association was founded in 1892 by a group of celebrated Lincoln Ram breeders, the most noteable being, Henry Dudding of Riby, Great Grimsby.

The main aims of our Association today are much the same:

• The encouragement of the breeding and promotion of Lincoln Longwool sheep

• To uphold the breed standard and  maintain breed purity

• To compile an annual register of pedigrees – the Flock Book.

• To augment classes at agricultural shows and recommend judges

Our current membership stands at around 120, comprising of both young and older generation breeders and general supporters of the breed.
We are based at the Lincolnshire Showground where we hold our Annual General Meeting in April and 4 additional council meetings per year. Our council consists of 12 full members.

One of our younger breeders, James Chantry, with our late great president Mr Frank Martin.

We organise social events and occasionally breed workshops. We produce a monthly membership newsletter and a quarterly breed publication ‘Clippings’.

Association membership is open to anyone who wishes to breed or support Lincoln Longwools.
